 I have been working as a professional massage therapist since graduating from Blue Heron Academy in 2008.  I love what I do and hope that it shows in my work.

Specialties: Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Infant Massage, Relaxation Massage.

Career
I started my career working in a factory giving arm/hand and neck/shoulder massages to prevent repetitive movement injuries.   I worked along side medical doctors and learned how to help the injuries and how to prevent them.  There I also learned so much on how our daily activities, whether that is sitting at a computer or lifting heavy items, can play a huge part in how the body feels.

After the factory, I joined a chiropractic team.  There I worked with clients in all walks of life and learned about chiropractic and alternative care.   I Worked closely with chiropractors to give clients the best care possible.

I then joined a private massage therapy office and loved it. I left there to start GR Massage Life.

Outside of work
I have been married to my husband Marty for 5 wonderful years.  If I am not working you will find me in my garden, working on our fixer-upper house or better yet not finding me at all because I am out in woods camping.  I enjoy nature and being in it.  You will also find me out and about Grand Rapids enjoying local art, restaurants and music

 My training at Health Enrichment Center for Therapeutic Massage began in 1995. That knowledge base was the foundation that helped me form my style and skillset. Combining the most enjoyable and effective elements of Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release and Acupressure I use firm therapeutic pressure along with gentle relaxation techniques. With over 20 years experience in the field I work to grow my skills and strive to facilitate the most relaxing and beneficial bodywork experience.

What I love about massage is the feeling of calm and center it brings. Along with pain relief and stress reduction I see regular massage as a "reset" button for the body.

On the personal side;

I was recently married to my loving partner of 12 years, I enjoy a regular yoga practice, cooking, water gardening, fish, meditation, concert going and two enormous cats that rule my life. Being a native of GR I now embrace the city for all of it's vibrancy and I am thrilled to be a part of the Fulton Square business district.

I graduated from Blue Heron Academy's 600 hour medical massage program in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2016. My studies have given me a strong foundation to grow and learn new massage techniques and stretches to better help my clients. I currently enjoy medical, sports, deep tissue, relaxation, and prenatal massage. Although I have only been massaging for 3 ½ years, I am an incredibly fast and adaptable learner. I am committed to working hard, constantly educating myself, and taking on any and all challenges to make massage work for you.

Outside of work I am a full time student during the regular school year. I am looking to get my bachelors in geography and eventually work within communities as a city planner. When I have free time I love to read, check out new restaurants, and spend time outdoors.

My foundation in massage work began at Blue Heron Academy, where I completed the 600 hour program in Medical Massage Therapy in 2015. My studies here cultivated my passion for understanding human anatomy and muscle functioning, and allowed me to tap into my intuition for identifying where pain and stress can live in the body. Following my training, I joined a private massage therapy practice, where I was able to grow and expand as a therapist and hone my skills and develop areas of speciality. In my four years of practicing massage, I have come to have a deepened understanding of the universal healing power of massage for every body, the impact of stress on the mind and body, and how massage can provide both tangible relief and balance.
I value relationship building with clients, hearing feedback, and tailoring massage work to individual needs. My massage style is nurturing, focused on problem-solving, and holistic, and my style is influenced by the mind-body connection. I am in trained various modalities of massage and bodywork including deep tissue, relaxation, prenatal massage, as well as hot stone, cold stone, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy. I am also passionate about providing aftercare feedback, such as resources on stretches, self-care, and ways to manage pain in between sessions.
When I’m not providing massage work, you can find me being active outdoors with my husband and our two dogs! I love rock and ice climbing, traveling, exploring our beautiful state, camping, snow-shoeing, walking my dogs, spending time with family, enjoying Grand Rapids breweries, and assisting my husband, who is a local photographer, with photography sessions. I am so excited to be apart of the community here at GR Massage Life!
