I have been working as a professional massage therapist since graduating from Blue Heron Academy in 2008. I love what I do and hope that it shows in my work.

Career
I started my career working in a factory giving arm/hand and neck/shoulder massages to prevent repetitive movement injuries. I worked along side medical doctors and learned how to help the injuries and how to prevent them. There I also learned so much on how our daily activities, whether that is sitting at a computer or lifting heavy items, can play a huge part in how the body feels.
After the factory, I joined a chiropractic team. There I worked with clients in all walks of life and learned about chiropractic and alternative care. I Worked closely with chiropractors to give clients the best care possible.
I then joined a private massage therapy office and loved it. I left there to start GR Massage Life.
Outside of work
I have been married to my husband Marty since 2014. I have a toddler now that keeps me extremly busy. If I am not working you will find me in my garden, working on our fixer-upper house or better yet not finding me at all because I am out in woods camping. I enjoy nature and being in it. You will also find me out and about Grand Rapids enjoying local art, restaurants and music

My training at Health Enrichment Center for Therapeutic Massage began in 1995. That knowledge base was the foundation that helped me form my style and skillset. Combining the most enjoyable and effective elements of Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release and Acupressure I use firm therapeutic pressure along with gentle relaxation techniques. With over 20 years experience in the field I work to grow my skills and strive to facilitate the most relaxing and beneficial bodywork experience.
What I love about massage is the feeling of calm and center it brings. Along with pain relief and stress reduction I see regular massage as a "reset" button for the body.
On the personal side;
I enjoy a regular yoga practice, cooking, water gardening, fish, meditation, concert going and two enormous cats that rule my life. Being a native of GR I now embrace the city for all of it's vibrancy and I am thrilled to be a part of the Uptown business district.

I began interning as a massage therapist in November 2018 through the Institute of Sanative Arts located in Walker, Michigan. Through my 9 month program there I’d taken extra certification courses in cupping and movement/ stretching. Since then I’ve taken more short course training's in cupping, prenatal yoga, trigger point therapy, cranial techniques as well as lumbar pain relief. Most recently I’ve been studying courses on ethics and professional boundaries.
My hopes are to create a safe client centered space where the dance between relaxation and relief are made accessible. My practice at its best aims to build awareness and connection through touch and feeling and where sensation meets breathing. I value consideration and authentic communication - through this I strive to do my best in minimizing and acknowledging my mistakes within practicing and do my best in serving those receiving care.
When not in the office I love to be walking or lying down outside admiring nature. I’m also parenting a young one and learning how to make life’s routines a functional and timely improv. Iyengar yoga is another method of practice that helps to keep me intact as a proficient body worker, human and mother. I still dream of being able to travel or go back to school someday once the foundations of my life are more firmly set!
My practice as a licensed massage therapist started at Blue Heron Academy. However, my journey into healing arts began over 15 years ago with yoga and meditation. These two practices have influenced my style of massage, which is centered around mindfulness. My approach to massage also draws inspiration from Therapeutic Thai techniques, infused with the rhythm I've cultivated through the study of music and dance. Every massage session with me is like a flowing dance, where I facilitate the healing journey with you.
Specialties: Therapeutic massage, Hot stones, Deep tissue massage, Stretching and mobility, Swedish relaxation
Aside from massage, I enjoy traveling, live music, and camping. I’ve been to Guatemala, Belize, and Thailand, with plans to experience more cultures in the years to come. As I travel through life, I learn and evolve my skills, which deepens my practice.
